Founded in 1985, SMDG (The Space Management and Design Group) is a multi-disciplinary architectural and interior design firm having extensive experience in residential and commercial design including office, retail, and educational facilities. With over 60 years of combined experience the principals of the firm have led SMDG to successfully complete many notable projects in California as well as throughout the United States. User groups include such prestigious companies as Federal Express, US Sprint, Go Corporation, Pacific Telesis, Kaiser Aerospace, Coca Cola, Comdisco, Willis Corroon, Equitable, USF & G, I Magnin, Shaklee, American Express, Paine Webber, and Pitney Bowes. To date, the principals of SMDG have managed some 10 million square feet of space.

SMDG has been featured in articles for "San Francisco Attorney Magazine" and "PC World Magazine" and has been named one of the top 200 design firms in the country in "Interior Design Magazine". The firm has also been featured in an article for the "San Francisco Chronicle" as an "environmentally friendly" firm. SMDG has received a "Certificate of Appreciation and Recognition" for the construction of the Foothill College Campus Center Expansion and a "Design Merit Award" from the Department of the Navy in recognition of the exceptional design of the Dining Facility at Castle Air Force Base.
